Group Sessions

Motherhood Village exists to support the mental health and wellbeing of mothers during the perinatal period and early motherhood years — from pregnancy through to five years post birth.

We believe in a community where no mother is left alone in need, and children and families thrive because she is supported.

Connecting with other mothers who are experiencing similar challenges during this time can be immensely beneficial for your wellbeing. Our free, in-person Peer Support Sessions are designed to provide emotional support in a safe, non-judgemental space where you can find comfort, connection and camaraderie.

Perinatal mental health challenges are common. In Australia, around 1 in 5 mothers experience anxiety or depression during pregnancy or after birth. Many more experience overwhelm, guilt, isolation or a quiet sense that they are not coping as they thought they would.

It is common to struggle with feelings of inadequacy or self-doubt during this period, particularly when societal expectations of motherhood feel hard to meet. In our small groups, you will find understanding, validation and reassurance that what you are feeling is real — and that you are not alone. We acknowledge the genuine challenges of the perinatal period, while also affirming the incredible job you are doing.

Whether you are experiencing distress, miscarriage or loss, suicidal thoughts, overwhelm, isolation, or simply feel you are not thriving — you are welcome here.

You do not have to do this alone.

  • Our foundational peer-led mental health support group for mothers who are not thriving.

This is a welcoming and relaxed in-person support group grounded in lived experience - not a playgroup or general social group.

Through guided drawing and simple creative activities, mothers have space to regulate, reflect and connect without pressure. Conversation unfolds naturally in a relaxed and welcoming setting.
