We provide free perinatal mental health support via peer group sessions to mothers and parents who have prior or existing perinatal mental ill health, to mothers and parents who are finding the postpartum period difficult or challenging, and to help those that may be feeling isolated or alone in their struggles.

Our goal is to create a safe, welcoming space where parents can connect, share experiences, and access vital mental health support.

Benefits of Peer Support During the Perinatal & Early Parenthood Years…

Holistic approach to your mental health & wellbeing

Perinatal mental health peer support involves individuals who have experienced, or who are experiencing perinatal mental health challenges, providing support to one another using their lived experience as commonality. We use both a recovered and recovering peer support approach at Motherhood Village Ltd.

Peer Support can be integrated into your treatment plan, to compliment your professional care from your GP and Psychology team. This allows you to have a holistic approach to meet your emotional, psychological, and practical needs.

  • Validating your experience

  • Reducing the barriers to disclosure

  • Safe and inclusive community group of peers

  • Reducing feelings of isolation by fostering a sense of belonging, solidarity, encouragement and community.

  • Bridging the time gap between clinical support sessions.

  • Providing a holistic approach for perinatal mental health.

  • Raising awareness and education in the community

Immediate Impacts of Peer Support

Supporting you from a place of lived experience…

Our Peer Leaders have lived through, and recovered from, a range of Perinatal Mental Health challenges.

They now use this lived experience, along with training & education in Mental Health Peer Support Work to safely help other Mothers and Parents who are facing their own Perinatal Mental Health challenges.

As a peer, we are able to provide a non-judgemental space for you to express your feelings, thoughts and concerns. This lived experience led support can help alleviate your feelings of isolation, anxiety, and depression. It helps normalise your feelings.

Attending our sessions allows for a sense of ongoing connection, reduces loneliness and helps you feel supported in between your specialist sessions.

Our group sessions are the perfect safe place to meet other mothers experiencing similar challenges, to share and listen to each unique story, to feel less alone in your own journey.

Why is Motherhood Village Ltd Unique?

Motherhood can be both incredibly wonderful and profoundly challenging. The perinatal period, pregnancy, birth, and the early years, brings immense change, and for many parents it can also bring mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, and feelings of isolation.

At Motherhood Village, we believe that while motherhood may feel instinctive, it is also something we learn and grow into, and no one should have to navigate it alone. Just as it takes a village to raise a child, it also takes a village to support the mental health and wellbeing of parents.

We provide a safe, welcoming space for mothers and parents who are struggling with their mental health in the perinatal period. Whether you are experiencing postnatal depression or anxiety, facing difficulties in adjusting to parenthood, or simply need a supportive community to connect with, we are here for you. Motherhood Village was created so that no parent has to face these challenges in silence.

Here you can find your people, your support, and your village.

Motherhood Village Ltd is most well known for our small group perinatal mental health peer support sessions. These sessions provide a safe, non-judgemental space for any mother or parent who is finding the perinatal period more difficult than expected.

They are designed for parents who may be experiencing perinatal mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, or overwhelm; for those who feel isolated or unsure about whether their feelings are “normal”; and for anyone who simply needs connection and support as they adjust to parenthood.

Each session is your time, a chance to step away from the pressures of daily life and connect with others who truly understand the challenges of facing mental health during this vulnerable life stage. Together, we share experiences, build confidence, learn practical tools, and remind one another that no parent is alone in this journey.

If you are struggling with your mental health, feeling disconnected, or in need of reassurance and community, we are here for you.

We can help. We can support you. And we can help you build your village. Please come along, we would love to welcome you.
